Alfa Romeo GT Veloce 2000
The Alfa Romeo 2000 GT Veloce ( also known as the 2000 GTV ) was introduced in 1971. The 2000 GTV was the final version and replaced the 1750 GTV. The main differences between the two are the bored engine and a restyled front grill. The venerable DOHC Bialbero engine in its 2L configuration produced 132 PS (97 kW; 130 hp) at 5500 rpm with the SPICA fuel injection, which, once again, was only fitted to cars destined for the United States and Canadian markets, with carburetors retained for other markets producing officially the same power.
This particular car is a Unique piece of Alfa Romeo history. built in 1977 as one of the last GTV’s the car was initially meant for the US market, however due to changing American smog and emission regulations, the cars could no longer pass the regulations in any form. A uniquely Alfa Romeo solution was devised: The 1500 some cars which would have shipped to the US were brought to Alfa Germany and converted to european spec Weber Carburettors, while maintaining all of their american accessories and Injection badging. a peculiar mix of american accessories and european performance. The car has recently been completely restored by well known dutch Alfa Romeo specialist ‘Il Biscone’ (more than 20k in invoices) And comes in stunning bordeaux ‘Vegio’ red over cream leather interior. Original paperwork and extensive history are also present.
