Maserati Sebring

The Maserati Sebring was introduced in 1962 as a Grand touring coupe aimed squarely at the American market, and was thus named after a significant Maserati achievement on the American continent, their 1957 win of the Sebring 12 hour endurance race. The gorgeous design of the Sebring is the source of some debate, while it is generally thought that Alfredo Vignale of Italian design house Vignale is responsible for this handsome Gran Turismo, there is some evidence that it was in fact penned by Giovanni Michelotti in commision for Vignale. The  2+2 design is laid over what is essentially the same mechanicals as a 3500GT, The series II Sebring was introduced from 1965 and received a number of visual and mechanical updates, with both revised tail and headlights, a revised bootlid and modernized bumpers to bring it forward to a more mid to late 60s aesthetic. The mechanical improvements came in the form of wider tyres and 2 new engines which were introduced gradually: A 3.7 and a 4.0 Liter, both stroked version of the original 3.5.

This particular car is an originally dutch delivered 3.5 Series II Sebring, Instantly recognizable as having been delivered to Dutch Maserati Importer Maasland due to its golden Trident and golden Maserati badge, a spin which Maasland put on all Maserati’s delivered to them. The car has recently been completely restored, Mechanically by specialist Mugello Engineering of Hilversum while the body was handled by Auto Classica Rubbio. A full history of the cars 3 owners is present, along with a full service history and complete details of its recent restoration.
